Follow these steps to add your Australian Hosting Solutions email account to the Mail app on your iPhone or iPad. It takes about 5 minutes.
Before you start
You’ll need:
- Your full email address, for example jane@yourbusiness.com.au
- The password for that email account – this is not your client area password
Forgotten the email password? You can reset it in cPanel under Email Accounts, or contact us and we’ll help.
Add the account
The screenshots are from an older version of iOS, so your screens may look a little different. If a name doesn’t match, follow the words in the step.
- Open Settings.
- Tap Apps, then Mail. (On iOS 17 and earlier, tap Mail straight from Settings. Older iPhones call it Mail, Contacts, Calendars, as shown.)
- Tap Mail Accounts (older versions: Accounts), then Add Account.
- Tap Other, then Add Mail Account.
- Enter your name, email address, password and a description (for example “Work email”), then tap Next.
- Choose IMAP at the top of the screen.
- Fill in the Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server sections using the settings below. Your iPhone marks the outgoing user name and password as “optional” – fill them in anyway, or you won’t be able to send.
- Tap Next and wait while your iPhone checks the settings. This can take up to a minute.
- Make sure Mail is switched on, then tap Save.
Your email settings
Incoming Mail Server (IMAP)
| Host name | mail.yourdomain.com.au |
|---|---|
| User name | Your full email address |
| Password | Your email account password |
| Port | 993 |
| Use SSL | On |
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
| Host name | mail.yourdomain.com.au |
|---|---|
| User name | Your full email address |
| Password | Your email account password |
| Port | 465 |
| Use SSL | On |
Replace yourdomain.com.au with your own domain. For example, if your email address is jane@yourbusiness.com.au, the host name is mail.yourbusiness.com.au.
Your iPhone normally sets the port and SSL for you. To check them after setup, go to Settings > Apps > Mail > Mail Accounts, tap your account, then tap Account. Incoming settings are under Advanced; outgoing settings are under SMTP.
IMAP or POP? Choose IMAP. It keeps your email in sync across your phone, computer and webmail, while POP downloads messages to one device only. If you do need POP, use port 995 with SSL on.
Troubleshooting
- “Cannot Verify Server Identity” – this usually happens when your domain’s DNS is managed somewhere else. Use the Server Name from your hosting welcome email (for example cp-01.australianhostingsolutions.com.au) as the host name for both incoming and outgoing mail.
- Password not accepted – check that the user name is your full email address and that you’re using the email account’s password.
- You can receive email but can’t send – open the outgoing (SMTP) settings and make sure the user name and password are filled in. If port 465 doesn’t work on your network, try 587.
